EMERGENCY SHELTER VOLUNTEERS

November 1st-April 1st

The Emergency Shelter relies on volunteers to help it run smoothly. In this role, you will help with tasks such as serving food, handing out supplies, coordinating the shower sign-up station, and spending time with guests. More than that, your role is to be a welcoming and affirming presence in the lives of our young adults. Morning shifts are from 6 to 8 am and evening shifts are from 6:30 to 10:30 pm. You must be 18 years of age or older to volunteer on-site. Though the shelter is open every day, volunteer slots are subject to availability.

Please note that volunteering in Emergency Shelter requires attending a Volunteer Training prior to your first volunteer shift. These trainings are offered virtually, about once a week, in the evenings. Check out our Bloomerang page to sign up for a shift today!

MEAL DONOR VOLUNTEERS

Emergency Shelter Meals: November 1st-March 31st MHNC Meals: Year-Round

This is a perfect volunteer opportunity for your group or your family! Each night of the season we provide a hot dinner to our guests, which volunteers drop off on-site that evening. A home-cooked meal is an important value statement for our guests. Unsure about your culinary skills? No worries, we also love when volunteers order catering from local restaurants and deliver the food to shelter! No training is required for this role unless you would like to stay to serve the meals.

COMMUNITY GARDEN VOLUNTEERS

May-October

Our newest volunteer opportunity is in our Community Garden! Located behind our Mobile Housing Navigation Center, this space offers a serene area for our guests to relax, as well as bringing in some fresh produce. Come help us plant, harvest, weed, build, and more!
